10:17 am - Simple needs....
I want:
A wooden drying rack. I have two plastic/metelish ones that work fine but don't hold up to a cats weight when they decide to crawl on them. Some bars are held up with hockey tape.
A new cover for my futon. a deep burgandy one, easy to clean the cat fur off of. A shelf above my stove for my frying pans. The studs don't line up right to have one and I don't want to risk it.
A new stereo. our current one is a 5 disc cd changer with two tape decks and an ipod line attached to it. But we've discovered the cd part is busted, as is the tape player. We can get radio reception but its rough at best. However, we've looked at a few and we'll be buying a new similar one from Walmart with Seans bonus in July.
Simple things really, but none of them a need. Just simple, easy wants. Someday.

09:36 pm - OK folks!
In writing a note tonight I had to write a word I usually try and avoid. I avoid it because I always have issues spelling it. The word is "necessary", and all its forms. Very few words cause me to stumble like this one does, but it always makes me have to look up the spelling. Spelling annoys me. Proper grammar I can flubb through most of the time, but misspelling irritates me to see and frustrates me to see I've done myself. So, I pose this: What word or words cause you issue, if any? Is it their placement that trips you up, or the spelling itself?

08:20 am - As suspected.. Sean is not gone from the bed for 15 minutes this morning, and both cats are in it with me. Toby normally sleeps with me anyway but this morning he decided that their combined "missing Mommy" feelings trumped any sharing the same space issues. My silly, silly boys!

03:52 pm OK, we went out to Dollarama on Tuesday, (April 4th). Picked up a few things and was on my way out to the cash when I walked by some chocolate cap'n crunch. I figured $2 for a slightly smaller than normal box was fine considering I don't eat cereal very often and likely wouldn't get any. Upon getting the box home, and Husband already having a bowl, I notice the best before date was listed as March 29th 2012!
I immediately email Dollarama about the issue. They respond that day apologizing and saying they will look into it and get back to me. I know, you're thinking "yeah right" right now aren't you? I did too. But today I got an email saying they contacted the store manager, fixed the problem, and if I send them my mailing address, they will send me a $10 Dollarama gift card for the inconvenience.
Woot!

12:27 pm - Not amused.
Husband hooked up the blueray/DVD player in the bedroom yesterday. I have no idea why, I don't tend to lay in bed and watch movies. The blue rays worked fine, but DVDs wouldn't play. We trouble shooted off the website, and did the two available updates and still nothing. I emailed LG and this was their response: Hello Jo Clarke.
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Regretfully this sounds like an issue with the reader for DVD. However due to the high cost of labor the unit is designated as not economical to repair.
At this time I would recommend recycling the unit and purchasing a new unit from your local dealer.
This is unacceptable. I responded:
Not impressed LG. I emailed about an issue I was having with my blueray/DVD combo. DVDs would not play although bluerays would play without issue. I was told that because the problem is too expensive for you (a multi-million dollar company) to fix, you recommended that we (a barely above minimum wage household) drop more money on a whole new machine. I can't even say this is bad customer service because its not even service, its money grabbing and shameful.
I doubt all see anything above an apology, but we shall see.

02:21 pm - February wrap up! Saved a little less this month, and a few less freebies, but with BOGOs, coupons and sales I saved $86.77 in February. This brings my 2012 total to $230.66.
Theres an estimated $20 in samples for February, but I have a ton due in March!
my goal is to break $500 by the end of March!

10:15 am - I love my boys...
Toby, my plastic loving garbage pit, tore half of one handle off of a plastic bag Thursday night. Its missing, and presumed eaten. He's eaten plastic before and is usually passed ina few days. This morning, I find a piece of a rubber band on the floor. Again, the rest is missing, and presumed eaten. If it had been one or the other, I would likely worry less, but both in less than 2 days has me worried. He is acting perfectly normal right now, but until things pass...I will worry :( Current Mood: worried

04:06 pm - What did you do today? I went through my coupons and made envelopes of ones I was not going to use, and made a new thread on my coupon forum saying the first three to PM me would get a ROAK (random act of kindness).
The three went quickly, and I secretly made 4 envelopes because everyone hates missing something by one. Then I received a message from a lady with such nice words that I split it into 5 envelopes, still worth between $20-$30 in each.
What good deed did you do recently?

05:39 pm - View from the MoL table. Well done fighters, very well done.
All 17 fighters showed up! I was a bit apprehensive about running a list this size, but thankfully Yessunge sent me along with some fabulous paperwork and other than two mistakes I made, I think the Tourny ran very smoothly.
I had His Grace Andreas do a random sort of the fighters names and then split them, name unseen, into one group of eight, and one of nine. Oddly enough, other than all three Excellencies landing in the same group, the two groups were fairly leveled out. Lord Diarmaid heralded out the names wonderfully for me, and His Grace and Sir Gareth were very good to make sure I knew the winners. Though Sir Gareth did get a touch lost in an discussion over a butter tart ;) I thank all three and Lord Llewylen for all their help and patience.
After nine long rounds, there were three clear fighters to move on, and an exciting fight ensued between Baron William and Baron Pellandres for a fourth spot in the semi-finals. Both combatants are well skilled, but Pellandres delivered William a deadly blow to advance this day. Lord Manfred was defeated by Lord Big Damn John to advance, and Baron Pellandres defeated Lord Nicholas thus leaving Baron Pellandres and Lord Big Damn John to fight in the finals for the coveted title of Tir Mara Rattan Champion! In a best two out of three, His excellency Pellandres moved fast of feet and weapon to defeat Lord Big Damn John to become our new Champion in two rounds!
All the fighters were honest, chivalrous, kind and skilled. It was a throughly entertaining Tournament to watch. Even through I could not feel my hands or nose by the end. ( I need a really good pair of gloves) All wins were earned, and all defeats gracious. You cannot ask for a better group of fighters if you could grow them from plants!
After cleaning up the MoL table, I headed inside to warm myself before delivering some special treats! I regretfully did not have much chance to sit and visit with anyone, and I'm so sorry if anyone was looking for me but my day was booked solid! Everyone who received a treat bag seemed very greatful and happy, with resounding " I love you"s!!!!! said by at least six people. I also had the chance to give Shauna her gift I made of photos of she and her father, plus one of his old baseball caps. She immediatly cried and held his hat close and smelled it. She then flipped through the photos and said it was the best thing she has ever gotten since he passed, and anything she could think to get me would never do it justice. I told her I didn't need anything, her happiness was more than enough.
I stood as retinue for Their Excellencies of Ruantallan again, and it was such a joy to see the faces of Golden Oaks own new Lord Lugg and Lady Mawdlyn.(Gooooo team Nuts!!!!!) It was also very awesome to witness the look of shock followed by the tears of Baroness Tadea upon learning of her Silver Crescent. Lady Isolda, it was an honor to see your hard work rewarded with being named Prince's Champion in the A&S, well done all!
What I hope no one realized is my struggle to stay standing. I had pinched a nerve in my shoulder at some point in the day, and the pain was becoming unbearable. I took a painkiller shortly before Court, but it was slow to react.
After a brief private audience with Their Highnesses (at my request, not theirs) it was a quick round of goodbyes and hugs. Again, I am so sorry to anyone I missed, but my drive was in a hurry to leave for supper and I was rather dependant on them to get home :)
I had a good day, and thanks to Lady Marlena, who was my keeper for the day. I did not have any "hangover" today. In fact, Husband strung our outdoor lights and purchased and built a pantry cupboard, yay kitchen storage!

08:39 am - Todays goal.. ....in grocery shopping. Stay within $100, and gather up as many airmiles as possible. Between Airmiles coupons, regular coupons and incentives, I'm estimated at least 40airmiles today.
Yes, it is a game :)
*Update* Spent $102.66 (due to Husband throwing stuff in the cart) and got 65 airmiles :)

09:48 pm - A thought just struck me..... I caught he who shall remain nameless's (mainly because he has yet to consistantly use ONE name) post to the Northprince list. I also caught D's response, and promptly sent off a private, quick "stay away". D responded timely "thank you, I have since been warned :) "
And it hit me, in all our cliques, past issues, old hurts, new stings and current transgressions in the SCA, this one pathetic, angry, vindictive man has banded us all together under one umbrella in our reactions (or lack thereof) to him. Warning others to run away screaming from this one man is the one thing everyone can seem to agree to.

09:07 pm - OK my crafty peoples.... I have cross stitched two pieces. I would like to turn them into bookmarks for my siblings. They are currently just the design on Aida (adia?) cloth. Is my best option to finish them:
A) using iron on fabric and cutting to fit. B) borrowing moms sewing machine to sew fabric to it and making the top prettier (bring fabric up and around for an edge as well C) sew ribbon as an edge/frame and sewing the aida and fabric together D)......a better suggestion?
I need durability, esthestically pleasing and easy :)
Go...

03:57 pm - Damn my mouth.... All last week, I slept with the fan on most nights. Husband would come to bed and turn it off, knowing that I normally find it difficult to sleep with it on (noise). However, I would get used to the noise and fall asleep, it would be him turning it off that would wake me up and therefore I'd be too warm again.
I asked him to please not turn off the fan if I have it on. Last night he listened..........
When I went to bed it was 17 degrees, fan on! When I woke up it was 6 fan still on.
Did NOT want to get out of bed this morning.......
My own fault sucks.
